My career as a painter of electrical boxes began when I discovered one in Drottningholm park. A metallic robot sitting in the middle of one of the most beautiful parts of the park. What?! Who put that there? I was so outraged that I dropped my current painting project and tried to make the box disappear, using the only means I have at my disposal - art.

So I painted on one side of the box what I saw in front of me - the meadow that stretches up to the ridge, and the meadow flowers that grow beside the box.

But then I realised that the box had four sides. Four sides - four seasons. So I came back a month or two later and again painted what I saw, this time on another side of the box - the lime trees lining the nearby path in their early autumn colours.

And then, to celebrate spring (left), a picture of the traditional bonfire, always lit in the park on April 31, the eve of May (Valborgmässoafton), a Swedish and european tradition as old as the hills. The bonfire is built in the middle of the meadow that can be seen on the other side of the box. Hundreds of people gather to celebrate the coming of spring, with choir song and fireworks. It reminds me of the May 1 celebrations in Oxford when I was young.

And finally, winter. The view is from the electrical box over Snake island towards Monument island. The canal is frozen, but that year there was hardly any snow.
